Kate joined Milano Attorneys in 2015 – initially as a law clerk, and then as an attorney upon being admitted to practice in the State of Ohio.
Kate’s practice focuses primarily in criminal defense, though she also represents individuals involved in juvenile/domestic relations and civil proceedings in various courts across Northeast Ohio. She is presently licensed in the State of Ohio and in the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
Kate has successfully represented clients against various charges that range in severity – from DWI/OVI and low-level felonies, to violent and/or drug-related crimes, to murder.
Within the field of domestic relations, Kate has developed a specific focus in fighting for, and defending, fathers falsely accused of abuse and/or neglect and deprived of their parental rights. She has also been successful in post-conviction and appellate cases, having recently secured a reversal (holding that insufficient evidence was presented at trial) of a client’s Sexual Battery and Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor convictions through direct appeal to the Ninth District in 2019.
Kate earned her Bachelor of Arts in Public Affairs Journalism from The Ohio State University in 2012, graduating as a member of the Politics, Society, and Law Scholars Program. She then graduated cum laude in 2016 from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where she was Editor-In-Chief of CMLaw’s monthly publication, The Gavel, and received numerous awards for her academic performance and pro bono community service contributions.
Kate was elected as Treasurer of the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (OACDL) for calendar years 2020-21, is involved in the OACDL's Women's Initiative Committee, and regularly presents on various criminal defense topics at OACDL seminars across Ohio. Kate has previously served as co-chair of OACDL's Public Policy/Technology Committee, and she has authored several publications that have appeared in the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s (CMBA) Bar Journal, as well as the OACDL’s bi-annual publication, The Vindicator.
Kate was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers for years 2019 through 2022, and received the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch award for calendar years 2021-2022.
